#2: Michelle Pfeiffer (April 29, 1958 – present)
Michelle Pfeiffer won the Miss Orange County beauty pageant and worked as a supermarket checkout clerk before deciding to pursue acting, initially landing minor television roles in the late 1970s. Her major Hollywood breakthrough arrived in 1983 when director Brian De Palma cast her as Elvira Hancock, the elegant gangster queen in Scarface. Pfeiffer spent the rest of the decade earning immense critical respect, closing out the 1980s with consecutive Academy Award nominations for Dangerous Liaisons (1988) and The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989).
