#2: Jackie Chan
Broken bones, burns, dislocations, shattered glass and a remarkable willingness to try a scene again have become inseparable from his screen reputation. The 1985 Hong Kong action film Police Story contains one of the purest examples. During the climactic shopping-mall sequence, Chan slides down a tall metal pole wrapped in strings of electric lights before crashing through a glass structure below. The filmmaking style around him was designed to make physical action visible rather than disguise it with frantic editing.
