To Clean or Not to Clean
The cleaning debate surrounding Airbnb visits seems never-ending. On one hand, Airbnb hosts charge lots of money deemed as cleaning fees. On the other, they still expect you to clean after yourself. And as this post shows, sometimes they don’t even supply you with any cleaning products to do so. I once read an article that said that good Airbnb guests strip the bed and group dirty linens together, load and run the dishwasher before they leave, empty the fridge and take out the trash.
To this, someone responded: “My competition, as an Airbnb host, is the hotel industry. I would never dream of asking my guests to take out the garbage, strip the beds (much less wash the linen), or clean the dishes. In any event, how could I possibly do that if I’m charging a cleaning fee?” Sadly, not all hosts feel this way. So, the debate goes on. In the end, the guest decides how much to do, but getting a bad review from the host for leaving dishes to dry next to the sink is infuriating.
