The Ability to Remotely Erase, Lock, and Locate Your Phone is Within Your Grasp If You Take the Proper Steps Ahead of Time.
If you lose your Android phone, you can take advantage of the built-in security measures to keep your personal information safe. With a little planning ahead of time, you should be able to locate, lock, and/or delete the data on your phone remotely. In order to do this, you must have a Google account, enable Location and Find My Device, and be visible on Google Play.
There are tools available to help you track down a lost or stolen Android device via the Android website, provided the device is powered on and online. Find its general location, or the location from which it was most recently accessed, and then lock it, make it ring for five minutes, or delete all of the information on it, as appropriate. If you choose the third option, you will no longer have access to the Find My Device feature.
