Scientists in France produced a cloned rabbit in 2003. Rabbits offered researchers another mammalian model for testing cloning methods. Because they reproduce relatively quickly, rabbits can help scientists examine development, genetics, and reproductive biology. The achievement added to the growing list of species successfully cloned during that period of research.
