Animals that science unexpectedly managed to clone

The first cloned large mammal was a sheep created by Steen Willadsen in 1984. Unlike Dolly the sheep (1996), which was cloned from an adult cell, Willadsen’s sheep came from early embryonic cells. The distinction is important because adult cell cloning demonstrated greater cellular flexibility than many scientists expected then.
