#14: Monte Cristo Homestead — Australia
Christopher Crawley built Monte Cristo Homestead in 1885 in Junee, New South Wales, and tragedy has followed the property ever since. The place is now known as Australia’s most haunted house, with a long list of ghostly legends attached to it. Stories tell of a pregnant servant who was pushed from a balcony, a young boy who drowned in a well, and a stable boy who was beaten to death. The owner’s family has been running ghost tours since the 1960s, sharing tales of strange lights, disembodied voices, and full-bodied apparitions. It seems the original inhabitants of Monte Cristo never quite left, their misfortunes echoing through the halls.
