#17: Hotel del Coronado — United States
The grand Victorian resort, Hotel del Coronado, across the bay from San Diego has hosted presidents and movie stars since it opened in 1888. But its most famous guest never checked out. On November 24, 1892, Kate Morgan checked in alone under a false name. Five days later, she was found dead on an exterior staircase leading to the beach, the victim of a bullet wound. Her death was ruled a s*icide, but the circumstances remain a mystery. Guests and staff have reported seeing her ghost for over a century, particularly in and around her former room, 3327. They describe flickering lights, strange scents, and the faint image of a woman in black lace.
