#10: Theodore Roosevelt Statue by James Earle Fraser – American Museum of Natural History, NYC
The Theodore Roosevelt statue has been a subject of debate for decades. There have been many calls for removal due to its depiction of a hierarchical composition with Roosevelt on horseback alongside Native American and African figures, which is seen by many as a symbol of colonialism, racism, and white supremacy. It was removed in 2022, and it is currently in storage in North Dakota.
