College Football Was A Favorite Sport For Him
When Truman was a kid growing up on a farm, he hoped he could play football. His bad vision prevented him from attending West Point Military Academy because of the school’s free tuition policy. As a result, he decided to pursue a career as a soldier rather than continue his football career.
Even though he never participated, he was a lifelong fan of the sport. It is still his honor to have attended the most Army versus. Navy games during his time as president. During his presidency, Truman also went to the majority of college football games.
