Teddy Roosevelt is one of the most physically fit presidents in American history. He had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and attempted just about every sport there was. After being hospitalized as a youngster, he developed a lifelong interest in sports. After that, he made a promise to himself and started competing in boxing contests in an effort to develop his strength and stamina. Teddy made up for his lack of talent with tenacity.
After taking the oath of office, the 26th president continued to play sports. He had a reputation for getting into fights with White House staffers. Even after a single bout, he was left with a lifelong scar on his eye!
