The United States joined World War II during Roosevelt’s third term in office. It was impossible for President Roosevelt to stay impartial after Pearl Harbor had been destroyed.
Franklin Roosevelt’s health started to deteriorate dramatically in 1940 as a result of his lifelong habit of chain smoking. To the outside world, he was a healthy man. A brain hemorrhage killed Franklin Roosevelt on March 29, 1945, only a few minutes after he said, “I have a terrible headache.”
