Alison Arngrim’s life was nothing like The Prairie
Alison Arngrim, then 17 years old, is seen outside her family’s home in Los Angeles in 1979. Arngrim was well-known at the time for her portrayal of mean girl Nellie Oleson on NBC’s Little House on the Prairie, which aired from 1974 to 1981.
Before being cast on the show at the age of 12, Arngrim had worked as a child model and actress. She has acted in television and film since then. Confessions of a Prairie [Expletive]: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated was her autobiography published in 2010.
