The Last Performance of Jimi Hendrix
On September 18, 1970, tragedy struck as rock legend Jimi Hendrix was proclaimed dead. Unfortunately, Hendrix was one of countless musicians that died young, at the age of 27. The curse was dubbed the “27 Club,” a moniker that no one wanted to be associated with.
On September 6, 1970, this photograph was taken at Fehmarn, Germany. Hendrix, one of the most innovative and accomplished instrumentalists of all time, is depicted playing the strings with his teeth. He had no idea, nor did anybody else, that this would be his final performance.
