What’s in a name? Well, for these bands, everything. Whether due to label pressure, legal threats, or just a fresh creative start, each of these now-famous bands ditched their original name. Some changes were subtle, others dramatic, but they all affected the history of music, even when most of us never knew about them. Until today.
#1: Green Day (formerly Sweet Children)
Before becoming pop-punk icons, Green Day played under the name Sweet Children. They changed it in 1989 to avoid confusion with another local band. Soon after, they dropped Dookie and exploded into the mainstream.
