Phoenix formed in Versailles, France, during the 1990s with Thomas Mars, Deck d’Arcy, Christian Mazzalai, and Laurent Brancowitz. The band’s steady rise included songs featured in Lost in Translation (2003), directed by Sofia Coppola. Their consistent lineup has helped them build a lasting career in indie pop across several decades.
