#13: Kick Out the Jams — MC5 (1969)
The MC5 opened their live debut album with an expletive that got the record banned from several retail chains and proceeded to play the most politically charged and sonically aggressive American rock of its era. Rob Tyner’s vocals were pure incitement and Wayne Kramer’s guitar was pure attack. Every first-wave punk band cited them. Very few matched the MC5’s actual intensity when they tried.
