Waking up
Yvonne Williams was at the time just finishing up high school in her town of La Marque and was excited about what the future had in store for her. She knew that because she didn’t come from a wealthy family, she wouldn’t be able to go to university right away like most of her friends.
This is why she had a job after school and over the weekends, where she would work at a waffle house as a waitress. It was a minimum-wage job, but she was just happy to be employed and to have some savings. She dreamed that one day she would be able to have enough money to pay her tuition.
