#13: The Rescue by Accident
The survivors were found almost by chance when a Navy patrol plane spotted an oil slick and then men in the water. That accidental discovery exposed the terrible truth: hundreds of sailors had been drifting for days without rescue because nobody had properly sounded the alarm.
