In 1984, Dwight Twilley had spent a decade chasing another hit after I’m on Fire in 1975. Friend Tom Petty sang on Girls and appeared in its videos. The support worked, sending the catchy power pop single to number sixteen nationally that summer in the United States pop charts again.
