#15: It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
Speaking of being overly sentimental, It’s a Wonderful Life in all its Christmassy glory is Frank Capra’s most well-known film. Starring James (Jimmy) Stewart, the tale of George Bailey getting a second chance at life is one for the ages. In it, we see how just one life can make all the difference in the world.
This undeniable holiday classic from 1946 was actually a box office failure with mixed critical reviews. But once it started airing in syndication on television, it quickly became beloved. It’s also had several remakes and a sequel called Clarence. Kenya Barris even announced in early 2024 that he was working on a reboot of the original film.
