#25: Roman Holiday (1953)
Audrey Hepburn’s breakout performance in Roman Holiday launched her star into orbit, never to come down again. She won an Academy Award for Best Actress and played opposite the charming Gregory Peck as an unscrupulous reporter. The part went against Peck’s usual “mensch” brand of male archetype.

William Wyler directed this sweeping love letter to Rome as we follow the delightfully joyful antics of a young princess who escapes the watchful eye of her staff. For the very first time, and just for 24 hours, she learns how to revel in life, romance, and all that it means to be alive.
