#8: Manhattan (1979)
Jumping all the way up to the youngest film on our list, Woody Allen’s Manhattan was released in 1979. Meryl Streep, in her third film role, plays Jill, who leaves her writer husband Isaac (Woody Allen) for another woman. Isaac then dates a 17-year-old, which is obviously problematic and illegal.

Besides this disturbing plot theme, what makes this film worth watching is the cinematography and score. Few films can truly capture the magnificence of New York City like Manhattan can. And paired with a score by George Gershwin? It’s hard not to fall in love with the visuals of this romcom.
