Where Are You From?
Okay, I can understand why people get frustrated with this one – but there are some reasons why we do it. For starters, America is a big country, and we like to break it down into manageable chunks. Saying “I’m from America” is like saying “I’m from the world.” It’s too broad, and it’s not specific enough.
So, we narrow it down to our state and city; it’s like a little piece of our identity. Plus, America is a melting pot of cultures and cities; each has its unique identity, and we like to show off where we’re from. It’s like a badge of honor, and there’s nothing wrong with being proud!
