#19: A surprising role in Unconquered (1947)
Directed by Cecil B. DeMille, Boris Karloff stepped outside his usual genre to play the Seneca leader Guyasuta in Unconquered (1947). Set during the 1763 Pontiac uprising, the film paired him with Gary Cooper and Paulette Goddard in a large-scale historical production. His performance carried a controlled menace that reinforced his versatility beyond horror. Known for his professionalism, he even received a gold medallion from DeMille at the end of filming.
