#21: Late-Career Renaissance in Horror Revival (1960s)
At 70, when most actors were stepping away, Boris Karloff found a late-career revival that reframed him as horror’s elder statesman. On TV, he became the face of Thriller (1960–1962), hosting with an eerie presence while also appearing in standout episodes. His influence reached future creators, including Stephen King, who later cited the series as formative. Also, in 1966, he lent his voice to How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, earning a Grammy and securing a place in holiday culture. He also worked with American International Pictures alongside Vincent Price in films like The Terror (1963) and The Comedy of Terrors (1963), closing his career with a mix of horror and dark humor.
