#16: Monster Trucks (2017)
Monster Trucks was so financially troubled that Paramount’s parent company took a $115 million write-down before the film was even released. That is not a flop arriving after opening weekend. That is a studio looking at the future and wincing in advance. The family adventure eventually reached theaters and performed weakly, becoming a symbol of Paramount’s rough period under Brad Grey. The movie’s premise — trucks powered by creatures — sounded like a toy line searching for a story.
