#4: The 13th Warrior (1999)
Originally titled Eaters of the Dead, The 13th Warrior became a troubled, expensive production marked by reshoots, delays, and creative conflict. John McTiernan’s Viking adventure, based on Michael Crichton’s novel, had atmosphere and muscle, but the final release could not justify its huge cost. The losses were severe, and McTiernan’s once-commanding studio reputation never fully recovered. After Die Hard, Predator, and The Hunt for Red October, this was the kind of flop that made Hollywood’s phone voice colder.
