Theory And Practice
It is remarkable how much progress has been made in both the DIY ideology and practice. While the creation of any kind of art, such as drawings, sculptures, and so on, is impressive, the perspective of DIY is unique. People who participate in it didn’t look at a blank canvas or a slab of granite.
Rather, they look at the world around them and then proceed to make something out of nothing where there was formerly nothing. It would be a mistake to let go of the ability to conjure up in one’s mind the existence of something that does not currently exist, and then to bring that imagined thing into existence through sheer force of will and effortful physical labor.
