Providing Emotional Support Rather Than Physical Aid
Because Lilo has made such a remarkable recovery, she is following in the footsteps of her adoptive sister, Gemma, and is being trained to work as a therapy dog. Therapy dogs bring the kind of comfort, devotion, and unconditional love that only canines can to people in places like hospitals, senior homes, schools, and even disaster zones.
Due to her ability to help patients on a more emotional rather than physical level, therapy dogs are an integral part of the recovery process for many people. Lilo isn’t only a therapy dog; she also works as a Read Education Assistance Dog, where she helps get kids excited about reading and develops their language and literacy skills. Of course, Lilo’s tale isn’t over yet!
