Smooth Performance
Susan began to perceive each minute like an hour as the day progressed. She did her hardest to keep a straight face in front of the other guests and was relieved that Alex was only a short distance away from the celebration. Aside from that, the day couldn’t have gone any better, with friends and family from both sides mixing, laughing, and enjoying the generally joyous festivities. Susan sensed that things were about to take an unexpected turn.
