#15: Mike Vitar — Firefighter
Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez seemed destined for baseball glory at the end of The Sandlot. Actor Mike Vitar chose emergency services instead. After appearing in The Sandlot and two Mighty Ducks sequels, Vitar left acting during the 1990s, worked as an EMT, and became a Los Angeles firefighter. He has remained outside professional acting since. For fans who still picture Benny outrunning the Beast, firefighting somehow feels appropriately heroic—even if it involves considerably fewer stolen baseballs.
