#8: Michael Schoeffling — Furniture Maker
Michael Schoeffling was already in his twenties when Sixteen Candles made Jake Ryan an entire generation’s impossible romantic standard, but he had entered modeling and acting young enough to become permanently associated with teen stardom. By 1991, Schoeffling had quit Hollywood completely. He reportedly opened a woodworking business producing handcrafted furniture and has remained famously private ever since. Somewhere, the most mythologized high-school boyfriend of the 1980s apparently spent adulthood making cabinets instead of signing autographs.
