#9: Barret Oliver — Photographer and Printing Historian
Bastian from The NeverEnding Story did eventually leave Fantasia—and Hollywood with it. Barret Oliver stopped acting by the end of the 1980s after starring in D.A.R.Y.L., Cocoon, and Tim Burton’s original Frankenweenie. He later became a photographer and specialist in nineteenth-century photographic processes such as the Woodburytype. Oliver even wrote a scholarly history of the technique. One of the 1980s’ most recognizable fantasy children grew up to become fascinated with photographic technology invented a century earlier.
