When Chris McCandless Misplaced His Map, He had no Idea That Assistance was Closer Than He Believed it to be.
The final pages of the diary, which Chris McCandless wrote, are a documentation of the explorer’s last screams for rescue. The Teklanika River prevented Chris from continuing his trek despite his best efforts. But because of the roaring water made it impossible to get across the river. It didn’t make a difference that Chris was used to trying new things because even he realised that he couldn’t make it over the river.
Chris expressed his feelings of being “alone and terrified” in his journal entries. Chris might have realised, now that he has the benefit of hindsight, Chris might have realised that a mile and a half of walking would have gotten him to a working hand-operated tram. If Chris had been able to reach a cabin that was filled with food and supplies, he would have been able to save his own life.
