#18: The Final Wrap (November 1960)
Photos from the end of The Misfits carry an eerie warmth: Gable in cowboy gear, smiling, seemingly relieved the punishing shoot was over. Shortly afterward, he suffered a heart attack and died on November 16, 1960. The images do not look like a farewell, which makes them harder to look at. He appears alive, tired, and still game. The King had finished his last scene without knowing it.
