Allowed to cheer
In the letter, the dean of UC Berkeley, which was Melissa’s father, told the coach directly that she had no right to kick Melissa off the squad. Now with that amount of pressure on her shoulders, Melissa’s coach let her stay on and keep cheerleading until she could no longer continue.
Melissa felt like this was a huge personal victory for herself and she was going to make the best of it. Cheerleading had always been there for her and she was glad that she could continue doing it. It really helped her mental state as well and kept her uplifted and positive.
