Richard Pryor helped reshape stand-up comedy in the 1970s with personal, fearless material. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1986, his health steadily declined, yet he kept acting and making public appearances. Even as mobility became difficult, Pryor worked when possible, remaining visible until shortly before his passing in 2005.
