Cancel Crocodiles!
We love imagining how happy everyone would be without certain animals in our world. For instance, mosquitoes can go extinct and nobody would bat an eye, right? Wrong. While mosquitoes are completely pointless to humans, migratory birds and amphibians rely on mosquitoes as a source of food. If mosquitoes went extinct, about 3,500 species would follow suit, according to Brightside.
Now, what about crocodiles? As apex predators, their absence will obviously lead to irreparable damage to the ecosystem. Their prey will flourish in numbers, which are predominantly herbivores. Carcasses in the bottom of swamps would rot and spread bacteria, which could contaminate our water source. Now, if humans went extinct…
