So Close, Yet So Far Away
We wanted so much to believe the OP and their “blueberries get their name from the color” story, but that’s not the case. In fact, blueberries are a deep purple. Its hue comes from the abundance of anthocyanin, a natural-forming pigment that gives vegetation their blue, purple, or black color.
Someone decided to pipe up and offer another fruit named after its color to disprove the OP’s original claim. The fruit they came up with was starfruit. The last time we checked, a star isn’t a color. Good on the OP for kindly putting the commenter down by not telling them they’re an idiot to their face.
