#15: A Security Guard’s Curious Edit
At the Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg, a security guard used a ballpoint pen to draw eyes on two faceless figures in Anna Leporskaya’s painting Three Figures. The act was small, almost childlike in its simplicity, but the effect was serious because the blank faces were part of the artist’s composition. Adding eyes did not merely mark the surface. It changed the meaning of the figures, giving expression to something intentionally left ambiguous.
