Covers That Expressed Something Very Different From the Original

Creedence Clearwater Revival’s original hit was a relaxed, rootsy country-rock song celebrating a simple life working along the Mississippi River. Ike and Tina Turner famously took the track and split it into two distinct halves: starting “nice and easy” before exploding into a frantic, high-octane funk-rock hurricane. Tina’s ferocious lead vocals and dance routines turned a gentle riverboat tale into a fiery stage masterpiece.
