#16: Jennifer’s Body (2009)
By 2009, audiences weren’t sure what to make of a horror comedy about a demon-possessed mean girl. So they mostly slept on it. Diablo Cody wrote it, Karyn Kusama directed, and Megan Fox starred as Jennifer, a popular cheerleader who gets possessed after a satanic ritual goes wrong. Her best friend, Needy, played by Amanda Seyfried, is the only one who notices Jennifer’s suddenly snacking on their male classmates. It’s a toxic friendship wrapped in blood and razor-sharp one-liners. The movie’s all about female rage and the horror of growing up with someone who makes you feel small. Critics were lukewarm at first, but it found its people. Now it’s a full-blown cult classic that aged like fine wine.
