#9: The Addams Family (1991)
In 1991, the strangest family on the block made their big-screen debut. Director Barry Sonnenfeld captured the macabre spirit of Charles Addams’ original cartoons in The Addams Family. With a cast including Anjelica Huston as Morticia and Raúl Juliá as Gomez, the film follows the family as a con artist tries to pass himself off as their long-lost Uncle Fester. The comedy comes from seeing this bizarre household treat torture devices, séances, and graveyard picnics as perfectly normal parts of everyday life. Christopher Lloyd and a young Christina Ricci round out the cast, making a film that celebrates being different.
