In the episode “Time Enough at Last,” Burgess Meredith plays Henry Bemis, a bank teller who just wants to read undisturbed. It all gets creepy when he breaks his glasses after a nuclear apocalypse. It is based on a short story of the same name written by Lynn Venable in 1953. Some say that it was inspired by a neighbor with severe agoraphobia who hid in a bunker.
