#7: The Man Who Inspired “The Hitchhiker”
In “The Hitchhiker,” a woman faces a persistent hitchhiker while driving. The episode is a film adaptation of a famous radio play written by Lucille Fletcher in 1941 (originally starring Orson Welles with a male lead). Fletcher wrote the story during a road trip with her husband (the famous composer Bernard Herrmann), after noticing that a strange man seemed to be at the same points along the route repeatedly.
