#12: The Papal Tiara (Catholic Church)
Used from the 8th century, the papal tiara was a three-tiered crown worn by popes during coronations. The three layers represented the pope’s roles as teacher, ruler, and spiritual guide. It was last used and subsequently abandoned by Pope Paul VI in 1964. While he was crowned with it in June 1963, he later chose to donate it to the poor.
