#13: The Crown of Thorns (Biblical)
According to Christian tradition, Roman soldiers placed a woven crown of thorns on Jesus’s head before the crucifixion as a form of mockery. Though not a crown of rule, it became one of the most powerful religious symbols in Western culture. A relic believed to be the original is kept in Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris for public veneration. It was returned to the cathedral in December 2024, after being preserved at the Louvre during restoration work following the 2019 fire.
