#18: Japanese Imperial Chrysanthemum Crown
The chrysanthemum flower is the official symbol of the Japanese Emperor and appears on the Imperial Seal, passports, and coins. While the crown itself is rarely seen, the image of the chrysanthemum is closely tied to the monarchy and the “Chrysanthemum Throne.” Today, while the Emperor’s role is mainly ceremonial, it is tradition, not power, that gives the crown its lasting meaning.
