#9: The Lotus Crown of Ancient Sri Lanka Kings
Worn by monarchs of the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa periods, the lotus crown reflected Buddhist ideals of purity, detachment, and spiritual awakening. While its design varied, the symbol of the open flower, which linked kingship with cosmic order, remained across the centuries. Despite its name, it wasn’t always a literal crown, but rather a decorative element on statues and guard stones.
